It may be the beginning of 2025, but here at LCCC, we still can't get 2024 off our minds! It was such an amazing year for our classrooms, our educators and our families in our centre, that we're still thinking about all the great moments, memories and learning milestones that took place. We're not going to highlight every single one of those (we've got other blog posts dedicated to them!), instead we'd love to share the end of the year joy that was so strong throughout out centre, it took us right into 2025.
MAKING GIFTS & OPENING THEM TOO
Throughout our classrooms, our educators developed ideas that would eventually turn into hand-made, individually crafted, made-with-love gifts that each child could give to someone special in their lives. In the photos above, you can see the toddlers working on holiday ornaments and photo frames, while the preschoolers created decorative hanging balls and stars. In addition to making their own gifts, they even got to open some! Classroom gifts were given to each room, enough for every child to open one themselves. These gifts stay within the classroom, and are an exciting new addition to our curriculum that the children can now look forward to using.
NEW SKILLS & NEW TRADITIONS
Our educators are always trying to make their classrooms an inclusive, welcoming environment where children feel seen, heard and encouraged to try new things. We do believe they're all doing an incredible job at this, especially when we see moments such as these. Above are images are the Kindergarten classroom learning about Hanukkah and integrating the things they learned into their daily programming by creating mini Menorahs and Star of David's as a holiday ornament.
We were also impressed to see the School Age rooms honing in on new skills that the educators noticed emerging throughout the previous few months of programming, and seamlessly integrated these ideas into the holiday gifts the children would make for their families. School Age 1 has noted an increasingly large interest in all things cooking and baking, so the educators followed the child's lead and developed Cookies In a Jar recipes that each child could then assemble and take home to later bake with their families. School Age 2, our oldest of the age groups, worked hard on creating customized charcuterie boards for their families, after the educators began noticing the children talking about "hosting at home".
WE LOVE OUR STAFF
None of the above would be possible without the very heart and soul of our centre - our LCCC staff. It's with their care, creativity, kind nature and attention to detail that we're able to run such an inclusive and warm program. Needless to say, they deserve gifts and every thanks, so this year we treated them to a curated buffet with all of their favourite dishes, gift cards to their favourite stores and custom water bottles (we notice they love to stay hydrated). We received generous donations from our families in order to make this happen, and we're eternally grateful for the love and support you give right back to our centre and our educators. From cards, emails, homemade snacks and even a delicious sushi tray, all of these donations and gestures of kindness created a special moment of rest and relaxation, just for our very own.
From a busy and beautiful 2024, into a bright 2025, we wish our LCCC families, staff and community a safe, healthy and happy year ahead. 2025, we got this!!!!
