So Long Summer!

Summer at LCCC is one something we look forward to all year. It's an exciting time for both children and staff as we divert from normal programming and dive into special outings and day-trips, all summer long. As a community centric daycare, we're very fortunate to have the ability to offer excursions and new experiences all around the GTA, to the children in our care. But as the leaves begin to change and the school year gets back into it's full swing, we say goodbye to summer and hello to fall.

Let's recap summer at LCCC and go over just some of the many exciting moments that happened at Lakeshore and beyond.

TODDLER & PRESCHOOL

Our Toddler & Preschool programs, though not quite old enough to go on day trips, are still provided with an exhilarating and stimulating summer curriculum curated to their development. Our educators go above and beyond creating a two-month program that has parents and children checking the classroom calendar daily as they ask themselves "What exciting thing is happening today!?" And we can tell you, it's a lot.

KINDERGARTEN

This summer the Kindergarten classrooms were busy travelling all over Toronto to learn and have fun at the variety of day trips their teachers had planned for them. These day trips happen weekly and range from attending a live theatrical play to paying a visit to jungle animals. Whatever the excursion, it's always such a privilege to be able to see the excitement on the children's faces when they experience something unique, many of them for the very first time.

SCHOOL AGE

The oldest of the children in our care, our School Age summer program is exciting for both children and staff. Between daily in-class experiences and weekly excursions, our School Agers were engaged all summer and always looking forward to what was coming up next.

An Exciting Summer's End

With all the incredible programming that our classrooms ventured into this summer that make us delighted to do what we do as educators, our centre ended the season with a particularly exciting and noteworthy moment: Lakeshore Community Childcare Centre was nominated as a Gem of Etobicoke-Lakeshore 2024 by Member of Parliament James Maloney. It's an incredible honour to receive this note of distinction that proves our commitment to community, family and childhood development is of utmost importance in our area, our city and the world as a whole. We say it a lot, but we'll say it again, we're so proud to be Early Childhood Educators, and honoured to be able to help shape the lives of children.

Here's to an amazing school year ahead!
